Ghana's Prime Minister ousted in bloodless coup

An Lieutenant Colonel I K Acheampong, an army commander seized control of Ghana while Dr Kofi Busia, the country's prime minister was is in London for medical treatment.

Dr Busia came to power in 1969 after his Progress Party won 105 out of 140 seats in a general election.
